Problems of the Heart
Chapter 29
by Sam Hackel-Butt (Age: 19)
copyright 01-10-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

**I am very impatient, and want the book to end already! But for good reason! Plans for a book 2 is already being... well, planned!**

The voice remained with the Talented for many days until slowly, everyone forgot about the incident, and life went back to normal. Or as normal as life can get with those disturbing images constantly blazing behind their eye lids whenever they closed their eyes. Talented doctors tried to figure out what happened, but never found an answer, leaving many questions. Many Talented said it was a message from Adia, telling the people that they will all be murdered if they don’t stop sinning. Others say an all-powerful Talented was playing a prank. And others who claimed to have seen past the light, and were playing the public like a finely tuned instrument, calling themselves the Prophets of Adia.

But still, there were searches for this man who slaughtered innocent people. Or as innocent as the Talented communities said they were, for they wore the yellow robes of highly respected priests and priestesses who watch over the residence of the last known Artifacts of Adia. Mobs broke out in streets, causing many fires to be started, and lives ended. Gangs of Talented who claimed to have also seen the light say the man told them to purge the world of the wicked and send them to the fires of hell.

The police had little or no effect in trying to contain these mobsters from their destructive ways, as very few Talented went into law enforcement. Those who did were killed during the night for betraying their kind. This dream, or vision separated the Talented more then ever from the Untalented people. The Talented made their own sign and sewed it onto cloaks and clothing to show that they carry immense power. If it weren’t for the strong Talented force within the Estate, it would have been overrun, and controlled entirely by Talented.

There were mobs daily, some small, and some big. They all wanted recognition of the Prophets of Adia, and wanted them within the Estate walls to make decisions based on the vision sent by Adia. They wanted Koura, the city with the largest amount of Talented people, to be completely Talented. They wanted Crystals destroyed and be illegal. But Donovan wouldn’t stand for it. He too was against Crystals, but that was part of their defense against the angry Talented people. They were needed to keep his family safe, and at the moment, that was his main priority. He was spooked by the dream, not speaking much except to try to calm the Talented community. Ariel and General Andarie would spend late nights in an office, each night different, to try to figure out where all this happened, and if it were true or not. They’d come up with different theories, and present them to Donovan, who’d listen, silent as he always is before leaving them. They didn’t discourage easily, and soon had Ryan joining them, offering a fresh set of eyes to the event, not taking as big an interest as Ariel and General Andarie.

And as for Elizabeth, she didn’t know what to think, and kept almost as silent as Donovan when the subject was brought up. Unlike the rest, she saw what was behind those stone doors. The Prophets of Adia couldn’t be more wrong in what they were preaching. She hadn’t told anyone about it, and she didn’t plan on telling anyone. She had her hands full with keeping the mobs away from the estate, and raising her children. These two jobs usually ran together, though. She’d take her children outside in the front yard to enjoy the remnants of autumn when groups of Talented would come up to the gates and begin protesting, and eventually trying to blow the gates down.

A few Talented would climb the gates and as they’d reach the ground, Elizabeth would attack, all the while standing in front of her children as protectively as a bear would protect her cubs. ‘Mess with my cubs, and you mess with me,’ was the basic idea, and it didn’t take long for the rest of the group to realize this, and leave. So every time a mob would come to the gates, Elizabeth would rush outside and stand watch, with Ryan not to far away.

But as the days got shorter, and the nights colder, the Talented seemed to forget about the Estate, and left them alone for the time being. And as the residents of the Estate were lulled into a false sense of security, they took that opportunity to attack. The gates fell with ease and they held torches as they walked through the yard to the doors of the estate. The sounds of the gates falling woke the whole estate, and everyone was running to the entrance hall, not bothering to make themselves decent. The residents, all scared and wide eyed cowered in the dining hall and kitchens while Donovan barked orders to soldiers. He himself was a sight to see, in pajama bottoms, his hair a mass of tangles and his face red with fury. His wrists constantly tensed, and hands glowed blue at every pound on the door.

With each soldier making their way outside through a back door, Elizabeth and Heather came downstairs after placing their children under Ariels care. If anyone could be more fierce then a mother, it’s the grandmother. She was almost scary to look at as the knowledge of what was happening became apparent. Elizabeth could swear she saw fire in her eyes. With the door locked, both Elizabeth and Heather were certain they were safe, and that’s when they came downstairs.

As they looked around at the commotion, one thing was certain, and made Heather giggle despite the events.
“It seems all the men sleep shirtless,” she whispered to Elizabeth, who gave a short laugh as one of the soldiers who was off duty came running by, lacking a shirt.
“Heather, go upstairs with mother. You’ll be safe there,” Donovan said, coming over to them, where they stood by the door to the common room.
She was about to answer when she shrieked as a window broke from inside the room. She instantly hid behind Donovan as men poured in through the empty pane.
“Donovan, get Heather to mother. I’ll hold them off,” Elizabeth said running into the room already filled with men. “And send Ryan.”
Donovan nodded slowly before grabbed Heathers arm. They ran through the commotion in the entrance hall and up the stairs.

Elizabeth closed the doors behind her and turned to face the men.
“We don’t want you,” one of them said angrily. “We want Donovan!”
They all began chanting Donovan’s name and it freaked Elizabeth out. She could barely make out the men, due to the darkness, so she didn’t know how many of them there were. For all she knew, there could be a hundred of them in the room with her.
“Just go home,” she said loudly over the chanting.
“We’re not leaving until our demands are met!” one man shouted.
“Why should we leave?” another one said.
“Because…”
“Get her!”
“Because I know what’s behind the door!” she shouted. They all stopped. They were all silent. She would play them like the so-called ‘Prophets of Adia’ played them.
“Well then, speak up! What did you see?” one of them said, voice soft.
“I saw… I saw…”
”Well?”
”I saw the man who slaughtered the people in the yellow robes enter a room. Behind glass were a wide assortment of books and laws, and one of them revealing the future of the land of Koura. And as the man read it, I read it too. It sealed the fate of this Estate, and all living within. It read that if the Estate falls, so shall the people who destroyed it. All their families and future generations shall be cursed, and suffer untimely deaths. At the hands of Adia herself.”
It was silent. It would have been completely silent if not for the yelling on the other side of the door and broken window.
“Is this true?”
“Yes,” she said. She was glad for the darkness so they could see her smile. She had fooled them.
“Then we shall leave.” They all climbed out the window, and in minutes the mob had left the Estate. Sighing in relief, she opened the doors and walked out. The soldiers as well as General Andarie, Ryan, Donovan, Jack and her father were standing in the entrance hall, baffled at the sudden retreat.
“I don’t think they’ll be coming again,” she said.
“What makes you so sure?” Donovan asked.
“Just trust me. Now I’m going to bed. Good night,” she said with a yawn, and left them staring after her as she made her way up the stairs.

Na Na Na Na there has to be more....:( you and cliffhangers....this is beginning to be cruel...she better get back with jack he's better than john tss stupid man he turned out to be....oh well keep writing it's really good you've got a real talent for writing though...you need to take a look through Charlie though. I'll tell you a few but i can't do them all it's too difficult to explain how to find them all lol.

first paragraph
"telling the people that they will all be murdered if they don’t stop sinning" although there's no mistake i think saying didn't instead of don't would be better.

third paragraph its better to say " If it wasn't for the strong" rather than weren't

all the rest just check through Charlie. Anyways PLEASEEEEEE right more lol
