One day while I was typing
and getting along just peachy and fine
I took for granted the portal
the key to the internet that was mine
My fingers flew without gratitude
my words were posted one after another
I greedily indulged in surfing
on some site, some page, or some other
When all of a sudden it happened
my nightmares come suddenly to life
My lifeline to my addiction
was suddenly cut with an electrical knife
The computer made a really funny noise
Whirring and whining, a fizz and a pop
Suddenly the the screen went completely blank
and my internet voyage came to a stop
I was instantly caged in reality's prison
missing my dot-com world, cyber friends, & all
Shivers, shaking, and fevers a plenty
experiencing the fullest internet withdrawl
My fingers ache from not typing,
my computer chair has grown lonely and cold
The phrases and stories in my head
are now left unsaid, untyped, and untold
The voice of rhyming & rhythm's been silenced
with no outlet and no place to be displayed
My heart grows weary with longings
my readers are temporarily dismayed
How will I check my hotmail, forums, and sites
Now *gasp* I can't read the most recent post
As a member of the site, prose-n-poetry.com,
I can truly say it's the site I love the most
Oh ye who controls the sun, moon, and earth
Oh powerful one controlling the wind & the sea
Please hear my pitiful and heartfelt request
Answer my begging, my groveling, my plea
May I please find a computer that works
that will let me regain access to the net
May I find this gem sooner than later
- that would be even better yet
Then I promise to not take for granted
each gift that generously given
I will thank you daily for internet access
and refrain from badness and fibbin'
I'll publicly praise your lofty name
& always give credit to the ever deserving you
And make sure it has loads of memory & RAM
lots of x-tras, a DVD writer, & a web cam too
A state of the art printer would be nice
and top of the line speakers as well
wireless capabilities with a flat screen monitor
would give me more to praise and tell
Really, dear deliverer and hearer of prayer
if I could have this one thing I ask for
I would gladly return the favor somehow if
you would but pay my bill at the computer store
