Freedom
by David Pekrul
copyright 01-12-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Freedom……
The right to think your thoughts
and to express your opinions
without the fear of persecution.

The right to worship the Deity of your choosing,
whether it be the One True God,
or the fabrication of your imagination.
(A biased comment you say?
I also have my freedom of opinion and expression).

The right to vote for the person
you would have lead your country,
accepting the end results without complaint.

The right to protest,
and fight for change
when you see injustice in the world.

The right to dance to your own drummer,
knowing that everyone is unique
in their own way.

And the responsibility to accept others
as they are, without judgement,
yet having the right to express
your views of right and wrong.

I think I missed this one. Your words are true and your ideas here seem fair, but who picks the ones that you get to vote for? Sometimes I think the choice is between the least of two evils! Thanks for your poem, it made me think(is that a good thing. I think I have a headake!) Anthony
