End of Wars

In this time of seemingly endless wars and conflict everywhere in the world, I would like to offer a simple, although unrealistic solution.
While this solution would end most conflicts, I'm sure humanity would manage to still wage a few small wars here and there.
So, here is my solution...
All soldiers should just lay down their arms and go home to their families. For this to work, all soldiers everywhere would have to do the same, not just our guys.
Think about it. If all branches of military were to do this, there would be no one left to do the fighting. Our so-called leaders certainly won't load themselves into a tank and go overseas. I really can't imagine Bush carrying a fifty pound backpack into the desert behind enemy lines. And what would the terrorists do without their soldiers to do their dirty work for them? I don't think that Osama Bin Laden would be scheduling himself for a suicide bombing anytime soon.
Of course, this is completely unrealistic, but it would work! Unfortunately, humanity's pride and greed and sheer violent nature won't allow him to do this. It is in our blood to invade other lands and to kill those who do not share our point of view. The very land you're now standing on was taken through less than peaceful ways. This goes for everyone, everywhere in the world. There is barely a square foot of land anywhere on the entire planet that has not had blood spilled on it.
So, what can we do? Unfortunately, there will always be wars and there will always be people ready, willing, and able, to fight them.
Here is a short list of the only things I believe will end all wars here on Earth.
1-The end of the human race...likely due to our own doing. The human race could be wiped out by a major environmental disaster or even by a man-made biological agent. You would only have to create a virus that attacks the 'x' chromosome in the human genome, and bye-bye human race.(Interestingly, if you created a virus that attacks only the 'Y' chromosome, it would only kill all males, and leave a planet full of females-women only have 'x' chromosomes.)
2-A common enemy. Hey, we might find something new to fight and wage war against other than ourselves. Perhaps we could be invaded by aliens. If there were hostile aliens attacking the Earth, I'm sure we would all band together to defend ourselves. Hostile or not, I'm sure we would attack them to get their technology. Of course, if they were ever defeated, we would no doubt use that technology against each other.
3-Divine intervention-yeah, that's real likely.
So, while in the early stages of our evolution, violence was certainly needed for survival, it is no longer needed. In fact, our violent instincts now work against us, threatening the very survival of the human race.
If we could just see past our differences and realize that we are all one people on the beautiful blue Earth, imagine what could be accomplished...just imagine...
