The Whale is majestic,
The Dolphin is cute,
We want to protect them
From humans who loot.
Keeping innocent Seals
from the hunters’ cruel hands,
We each raise our voice,
And we all take a stand.
But what of the Sponge,
Who lives in the deep?
With him we wash dishes,
We mop and we sweep.
Washing cars in the driveway,
The windows and walls,
He is one of God’s creatures,
But we don’t care at all.
The hunters first take him
And crush his small head,
They keep on a’squeezin’
Until he is dead.
We cry for the Whale
And the Dolphin, so cute,
When it comes to the Sponge
We just don’t give a hoot.
This is crazy, you say,
Your point cannot win,
For the sponge has no flippers,
Or rubbery skin.
This tale has been told,
Makes us think, makes us mute,
Let’s protect all God’s creatures,
Not just those that are cute.
