Guess I was cursed with a poet’s heart
Such little things can make my teardrops start
I’ve got this penchant for the blu-u-ues
Seems like my destiny to lose
I get choked up when evening comes along
Especially if I hear a night bird’s song
I dream of you and where my heart belongs
How could my life have gone so wrong?
Think I’ll blame it on the moon
Don’t know what else I can blame
Could sing about it in a thousand tunes
But all the words would sound the same
I could blame it on the stars up high
But they remind me of the ones in your eyes
I could blame it on the sun or the sky
But old Sol just makes me realize
I don’t feel quite as bad at noon
So think I’ll blame it on the moon
I‘ve dreamed of true love since the dawn of time
I can put my love for you to rhyme
Written ‘bout it over and over again
My lyrics can’t erase the pain
Think I’ll blame it on the moon
Don’t know what else I can blame
Could sing about it in a thousand tunes
But all the words would sound the same
I could blame it on the stars so high
But they remind me of the ones in your eyes
I could blame it on the sun or the sky
But old Sol just makes me realize
I don’t feel quite as sad at noon
So think I’ll blame it on the moon
I’ll know night’s sadness all too soon
Pining pensive in my room
Think I’ll blame it on the moon
Yes, think I’ll blame it on the moon

I never thought of blaming the moon. I'll have to try that more often! It would be a lot easier on me! Seriously, great write. I like songs about love won, love lost and love confused. The latter is where I stay most of the time. Jackie
How could my life have gone so wrong? ... A question I ask myself time and again! As for the moon? It's what he gets, up there in his silvery splendor, mocking humanity. He watches our lives unfold, and doesn't warn what it's about to do to me. He sees the creep around the corner, with gun held in his hand, and witnesses the bad as it happens in all of the land. He sees tragedy before it happens and doesn't do a thing! So it's all his fault, you so rightly write... you so rightly sing! Yes blame it on the moon, as he sits perched up in the sky. Blame all this on the moon, each and every tear in my eye!
