“Hey Gramma, Gramma look at me, I’m riding on a horse”,
My Grandma waved and smiled and she remembered.
The first time it was just a horse, the next a horse and cart,
My Grandma cheered me on,
And she remembered.
Excitement always filled the air each time I saddled up,
I’d ride those country roads from noon ‘til dusk,
And when at home I told of the adventures of my day,
My Grandma shed a tear,
And she remembered.
For Grandma always rode a horse when she was just a girl,
She’d ride and jump them at the county fairs,
And then when she got old and couldn’t ride just like before,
She’d live her life through me,
And she remembered.
My Grandma’s gone to heaven now; I miss her every day,
But each time when I ride those country roads,
I think of her encouragement and I feel her constant love,
I ride those roads for her,
And I remember.
