Lonely, Alive And Fighting

  Lonely, Alive And Fighting

The world is full, yet I am empty,
The people are busy, yet I am alone,
I sit here waiting for someone to talk to,
I call, but you don’t answer the phone.

I once was loved, but now it’s over,
You once were mine, but now you are gone,
You said you’d love me forever and ever,
I trusted you; I guess I was wrong.

Well, that’s okay, it doesn’t much matter
That you have left me all alone,
I’ll end my life and join the heavens,
And you can bury me under a stone.

But that is not the way it should end,
That you should be winning and I should lose,
That you go about your daily living,
To find another poor soul to abuse.

For if I would die and let that happen,
A rest for my soul, I never would find,
So I will be strong and fight your ways,
And live a life that truly is mine.

So take your best shot and see if I care,
But pray that you make it the best you can,
For if you flinch or even blink,
I’ll cut you down, right there where you stand.

Now that feels good; I’ll be okay,
The world is mine; I'm not to blame.
If true love ever comes my way,
I’ll cherish the time; I’ll not be the same.

Once again, I am stunned on how well you write.
May the best writer win the contests.

I see the similarity in stories between this and my work, Checkmate. I like this very much, and know how a situation like this could bring a person down to possibly one of the lowest points in their life. Hurray for the strong soul who overcomes that feeling and rises to the occasion. I know from experience what it's like. My work was from my breakup with my first husband.

Thank you for bringing me here to read this. It's very good!

I love the personal growth experienced within this work. We all have those feelings and must work through them. How great it feels to get over the pain... finally. :-)

And I also like the advisory you left. So many times I've written something purely fictional and unwittingly worried my readers. :-)

Thanks for your constructive comments, Anthony.
How about:
"The world is mine: I'm not to blame."
Hope that works better.

Regards, David Pekrul

The last verse is my only proublem with this poem. Maybe..
"Now that feels good, I'll be okay,
the world should not carry the blame.
If true love ever comes my way,
I'll charish time, I'll not be the same."

Its good as it stands. Thanks, Anthony

A note to my readers:

Please be advised that this is simply a work of fiction and is in no way a reflection of my reality.

Thanks,
David Pekrul
