She kneels by herself in the lonely raining street,
supported now only an iron bar
That is what it seems, at least
She has the will to go on, to make the best of it
She is on her own, but she doesn't need anyone
Happiness is a choice; her OWN choice
THEY can make her life happier, but it is their choice for associating with her
Not her fault if they are emotionally damaged,
for she is broken
You would be too
if you were the only person you could rely on

Wow! This one is kind of depressing, but it's really good. It made me think, but after a while I agree, it's true, people can choose happiness, just I don't understand how someone could choose against it...
*sob* That's my life. Nobody in my life supports me. I'm all alone. People demand stuff from me but they never encourage me or support me. It's some feeling. I depend on solely myself. I love this poem. It's really great. The title's a phenomenon all to itself.
You are SO right! Happiness IS a choice! No matter what... don't ever forget that. I grew up on the streets of Chicago, and well... you just have to choose happiness or else there aren't many other pleasant options. :-)
It is sad to see someone living on the streets. How did they get there? Have they ever tried to get off the street? Is there anyone there to help?
You have painted quite a picture.
I'm mostly an angst writer so I love this sort of stuff. And You've done such a great job writeing it. This is a truly amazing piece.
Keep up the good work!
