There comes a time,
only once a year.
For someone to make,
one thing very clear.
The fact that you love
someone very much,
and on this day
their heart you will touch.
The day only comes
around once a year,
and on this day
you'll be full of cheer.
A day set aside
for this one reason.
It comes near spring
the most lovely season.
Valentine's Day
was made for lovers.
A time to show
that you care for others.
So go out
onto the street
and smile at everyone
that you might meet.
By encouraging people
to be more outgoing,
you'll be improving the world
without really knowing.
Yes, how wonderful
the world would be,
If on Valentine's Day
happiness is all we can see!

I liked the poem, but I strongly dislike Valentine's day. It always made me kind of depressed. The first year I actually have a boyfriend, he goes and buys me almost anything, and I can't get him anything at all because I have no money! Oh well, ignore my ranting. Great poem!

Your poem expresses the need for universal compassion, not just love for a few "special" people in our lives. This is what is indeed the most difficult task--even loving your enemy, realizing he/she is really just like you or me, striving to be happy and free.
Oh, this is so cute, it should be on a greeting card or something. But unfortunatly Valentines day here is still winter, so it's very cold and miserable, I wish we could have nice weather though.
Keep up the good work.
