Cleaning Out The Cobwebs

Spring is almost here- 'and about time', I hear you cry. Once again it is that time of year, when we are able to venture outside, without being wrapped in several layers of clothes. For the first time in months, we are finally able to feel the sun, playing against our skin, warming our chilly bones, nourishing our souls.

It is a time of birth and creation. A budding of life. New seeds pushing their way up and along the boughs of stark trees, and hardened earth. Each day bringing whispers of anticipation, excitement, and promises of a fresh new world.

In just a short while, we will be opening our windows wide. Welcoming the fresh air, as it cleans out the cobwebs of a musty winter.

Writing is very much the same. We have an idea, which sparks the promise of a fresh new project or piece. Each day we shed ourselves- peeling off layers of our subconscious, exploring ideas, and opening ourselves wide to creativity. Cleaning out the cobwebs of our inner conscious.

Very often, I don't know what to write about, or even how I feel, until I start writing. At moments like these, I turn to my journal. Letting out thoughts, emotions, unedited, going with the flow.

A journal can be a wonderful tool, during times of pain or confusion. With pen to paper, we can wade through those thoughts and feelings that are muddled or unclear. We can express and explore our inner conscious, peeling away layer by layer, cleaning out the cobwebs, until things are so much clearer.

Leaving us at ease, enlightened, and with greater peace of mind. Spring cleaned once again.

Nice to see you contributing to this site! I wish I could paint the same picture of 'Spring' for Florida. Unfortunately it is a case of "The Wildfires are back with a vengeance, the drought persists, and now we have hurricanes to look forward to..."
Damn, I need to get out of this State, before I am drained of all optimism!
