Just Life
by Brittney N. N. (Age: 17)
copyright 02-21-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Back when one is young,
ones' yet to understand life.
One thinks life is all fun and games,
but one is foolishly wrong.
Life is all but fun and games,
especially when one is a teen.
When one turns teen.
True life,
and true love,
become the biggest of issues.

When you turn 13,
Life becomes all but firsts.
First love,
first kiss,
first heartbreak
and depression
When that first love comes,
it hits you hard.
You jump for joy,
you dance a happy dance.
You feel as though nothing can go wrong.
You think you love that person,
and that person alone.
You think that person loves you,
with all their life.
You wince in pain when you fight.
You pray that you never betray them.
You hope the love lasts forever,
but soon comes the painful betrayal.
The love soon becomes evil,
like a devils heart.
The devil wins,
and for his prize.
He takes your heart.

Once one has had ones’ first heartbreak,
ones’ depression begins to set in.
Just like ones’ first love,
one is consumed by ones’ first depression.
When one’s first depression sets in,
It leaves forever lasting scars as the painful impression.

After you first mayjor heartbreak,
you start to feel slightly depressed.
You start to feel all action in life are pointless.
You always feel that,
love always turns to hate.
Hate always turns to more sadness,
and more sadness makes life more pointless.
Causing you to soon despise life.
You hate life to no end,
but still yet to wish for death.
You fear and hate life,
but you also dread to die.
You feel like an empty shell,
filled with nothing but a life from hell.

Once one’s first depression sets in,
ones’ life take a turn.
A turn maybe not for the worst,
but the best of turns in ones’ life.
Ones’ life seems to go from a hopeless hell,
to a hopeful and beautiful heaven.
Ones’ life is no longer an empty shell,
but a joyfully filled body.
Once you’ve had your first session,
of this horrid feeling depression.
Your life turns around,
jumps up from the ground,
and high into the sky.
You soon find new crushes.
Only crushes,
not love.
But small crushes fill you with joy.
You date some people,
you make new friends.
You forget all your enemies,
making life more enjoyable than before.
Your life is enjoyable,
and more fun than before.
Although you have bad days,
you get over them well.
Your joyful and happy,
and your birthday is soon.

Once one has had,
this positive turn in life.
One notices the last few months of 13,
quickly pass one by.
One is now 14.
Looking back at the past year,
one just says,
that’s just life.

I was just reading you comments, and I'm thirteen, but I haven't associated with guys my age since I was in school. I'm home schooled, meaning...I haven't spoken to a guy my age since first grade. XD

Currently, I'm just focusing on keeping a level head, getting good grades, working on my books, editing my books, earning money...learning Japanese. Besides, my parents are way overprotective. I doubt I'll be able to check the mail unwatched until I'm sixteen... Besides, if I started getting all airheadish like that my dad would flip. -.-

Anyway, back on topic! You seem to have a lot of love poems, huh? This was a good poem, you covered the trials and tribulations of the advantage teenager's love life very well. My only suggestion is proper capitalization. :) I didn't find any real errors in this piece. Keep writing!

Thank you all for you compliments. I'm glad I got such a large and quick responce to this poem because I'm entering a talent competition with this poem. I hope that the audience I read this to likes it as much as you all do.
