Due to the ever increasing population,
you now have the freedom of choice.
It will also be harder to believe what you see,
and the truth isn't always in their voice.

If you make a mistake it can be changed,
but it will cost some big bucks of course,
and you don't always come out, like you came in,
when you are fighting a divorce.

You see all the rules are not very nice,
you can get hurt if you can't play the game.
For the person you're fighting won't pull the punches,
because for you, no love can remain.

You could choose not to get married,
but now that can be divorced, too!
Only in that case, they usually get more,
you'll probably get burned before you're through.

I guess that its best to be careful,
about what you decide to choose.
Always remember the choice is for life,
because if you forget,...you loose.

Good poem. It's completely true and the war costs don't help any. Recently my parents are doing a little better :). Well, I'll cling to hope. Good work you described divorce very well. Thanks for entering my contest. You got the sadness and pain of it very well captured. Good work on a sad poem.

if you forget,...you loose

How true, there are no winners in divorce!
Did anyone ever grow up saying, "I want to grow up and get divorced!"??? I think not!

When there's a divorce, you can bet there are broken dreams, broken promises, and burnt bridges. Very sad indeed!

I sense this topic is painful and difficult, but I don't get a feeling of the pain or emotion of the process of divorce as I'm reading this; maybe the rhyme scheme does'nt convey it for me or perhaps its difficult to let all your emotions out because of the pain involved. Maybe you can do more to really make the reader feel what divorce must be like with some examples. I'll read it a few more times to see if I respond differently.

Right words, very right... But for me they sound like an instruction for living. Would you like to share your feeling about this subject? I hope...
Irina.
