  Letter To My Mother (02-16-05)

There are many paths in life from which we may and will choose. Some we avoid, some we stumble upon, and some we're drawn to. Some are worn well, some are traveled once, and some... our feet never chance to touch. Whether we wish they had, wish they hadn't, or care neither way... our feet keep walking. Don't let it be an accident where they take you, or where you end up.

Raise your eyes, look ahead, and go where you REALLY WANT to go. Then... in the end... you can say, "I lived a good and satisfying life". Then, you will leave this world a better person than when you came into it, you will leave this world a better place than when you arrived, and you will leave this world something worthwhile, something worth remembering... something worth imitating!

And really, isn't that the greatest compliment... to be imitated? To set a precedent by which others base their own actions, form their opinions, and mold their lives? To leave your mark on the canvas of life so positively and so vividly that it will forever be reflected in the lives of those you've touched and never be forgotten? Yes, THAT is the greatest achievement. My mother is the ultimate example (save Jesus) and I can only hope to be found worthy enough to follow in her footsteps. She is the ultimate example for her children to follow, the epitomy of neighborly love and compassion, and the most wonderful friend anyone could ever hope for... especially mer - her daughter.

The world celebrates Mother's Day once a year. Me? I celebrate it every day of my life by attempting to be all my Mother believed I could be, by portraying outwardly everything she saw within me, and by imitating everything I love so very much about HER so that perhaps someday my own children will have a light to follow in the darkness that surrounds us and veils with uncertainty our futures, the darkness that hides the paths that lead to assured success, the darkness we call life.

I love you Booper (Mom)!

Thank you so much, Aunt BJ, for the kind and warm and tender words!!! It means so much to me. You don't know how much I look up to you and always have! I felt like a queen when you took me to your school with you. And when you'd let me sit next to you while you played guitar... I wish I could have frozen time... it was Heaven on earth! I remember when you wrote poems a long time ago and I always wisehd I could write like you... And to have you say such things about ME... ??? ... wow. Thank you again!

I have just read the chapters written here once again. I've not read them since they were originally written. I was amazed that I could not keep from crying as I read on, having come so close to losing my sister! I relived the entire episode in your words here. I think it's incredible, the relationship you have with your mother, strengthened a hundred fold with what happened to her. I envy your closeness. You're the reason I've done what I could during (and still am) my mother's illness. You truly are an inspiration to me!

Mucho amor! Your mother sounds just like mine. She's really a unique person, a one of a kind.Selfless; a true heroin with a soul as kind and delicate as a butterflies wings. Your words will allow your mother's spirit to shine for all eternity.

Aw!!!!
Mrs.Pawley said it all.
This is so sweet, and it's about time you wrote a letter to your mother, apart from those that you have been writing to your family, I was kind of getting impatient for a mother one.
Sorry for the no points, but I'm knida running low right now, remind me later to give you some, I might forget.

Mary, what a beautiful and heartfelt letter...long may your Mother live so we can read what you've written to her and about her.
Nancy
