Heart Of A Poet

  Heart Of A Poet

This is dedicated to all the poets on P-n-P.

Inside the heart of a poet
Is a fragile place to be,
There's so many thoughts and feelings
He's wanting to set free.

Sometimes he sees life differently
Than the average guy on the street,
He sees beyond the material realm,
While others seem to sleep.

When we see someone painting a scene,
He sees one with a vision,
When we see someone working all day,
He sees one in a prison.

He really doesn't think like us,
But that's okay, you see,
For it is the likes of poet,
Who makes us feel so free.

This is a very nice poem. I thank you for thinking about us. But Your last stanza contains this phrase, "For it is one's like the poet..." this phrase needs work. Read it a few times and you'll see what I mean. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.

Well said. Is there really any other way to live fully, except as through a poet's eyes?

You have said it very truthfully. I wish our poetry set us free too. Yet sometimes I feel captured by what I write and the only way to get free is to get it out on paper. Great job and I'm jealous that you wrote it and I did not. Thanks, Anthony
