Beneath the Surface
by Lucy Suzume Q. (Age: 17)
copyright 03-28-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

All around me
This is what I see
Happy faces,
Luscious trees.

Coming to winter
This is what I see
Happy faces,
Bare trees.

No, there's not a soul here
You can tell that there's no life,
You don't have to be a Seer
To see that people don't show their life.

Conversations are dry
Laughter's will echo with hollowness
People won't have that twinkle in their eye
Their face will portray loneliness.

Beneath the surface
This is what I see
Cautiousness, awkwardness,
And broken people, as far as the eye can see.

Hi. This is Lucy's younger sister...Lucy is the girl who wrote these poems. I just wanted to tell people that I'm very sorry to say this but my sister Lucy has died. I hope you really enjoyed her poems that she wrote. She wrote more than these, but she didn't put them up. Please pray for her soul.

Nice poem. The all-elusive 'real me' that we so often think is too dangerous to show to the world. Such a pity, how we often live in fear and how this rubs off on our family, children, friends.

A batter in batting pratcice does not show the other team exactly how well he hits the ball. A NASCAR driver always holds back something for the race and when we fall in love, we hold something back incase of being rejected. The us that lies underneath is frail and we don't want it broken any more than it already is. Good poem, Anthony
