~Life's Interruption~
by Jeniffer Brand (Age: 38)
copyright 03-10-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

You're young, very excited, and trying to get your life in gear.
A new car parked outside, you have a job, and a baby is on it's way.
Soon to be a Dad, high on life, you don't sense the danger near.
So much in love, happy to live, no clue it could be your last day.

Afternoon comes along, you get excited, the new interview looks very good.
You get in the car, it's late afternoon, you're determined to get this new job.
One air kiss good-bye, a look in the mirror, one glance to where she still stood.
You haven't come home, and with danger lurking she starts to quietly sob.

You can't wake up, the car is totaled, you've been thrown out 20 feet.
The doctors are working, you're in the E.R., and off to surgery you go.
Your brain is swelling, everything has been done, not sure if this you can beat.
With massive head trauma, swelling continues, and the doctors at this point don't know.

A miracle happened, it's been 2 long days, and you start to come to!
You groan and mumble, setting off the devices and everyone's rushing in!
The Doctors, the nurses, they all exhale knowing your healing will finally begin!
Your brain has stopped swelling, the pressure is down, and you're going to pull through!

You haven't been the same, you can't remember, or know what year we were in.
The med's, the therapy have helped you recover and helped you to get to this day.
You still don't know why, how, where, with who, you still don't know where to begin.
Just know you are loved, needed and cherished, and your son needs you to show him life's way.

~~This is written for my friend Marcus.~~

My heart goes out to you and this family; I hope he pulls through. I've seen a lot of this, professionally and personally (When I was a kid, my friend was in a coma for months, pulled out of it, but was left blind and my brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver six months ago). If he's young , the brain can very well make a full revovery; in the meantime, a lot of love and prayer helps.
To answer your question, I don't think the poem 'sucks' although it could have a greater impact in a tighter form. The main thing is the sentiment you expressed for this poor guy and the wonderful prayers you can generate for him by writing it.

Nice poem Ms. Brand. You certainly can express your feelings well. This is a sad story and I hope that your friend, Marcus has a full recovery. God bless you and yours. Thanks, Anthony

Wow!! This one really made me sit up and take notice. When did we start taking each day for granted? Wonderfully written; I just wish it had been from your imagination and not a real event. I pray that God will bring the healing and Marcus will have full recovery. "All things for a purpose to those who love God."
