Drifters Lament
by Walter Jones (Age: 63)
copyright 04-02-2005

Age Rating: 4 to 127

Author Note: Wrote this listening to Hank's Luke The Drifter Songs

Got a day dream making money
Living higher than I can ever fly
Take the window seat to heaven

In the love Lord hear her cry
Music from the fountain
of a new and burning life

Pick the child from the water
Lift her high to the sky
Dreams of future living
in the child
Lord in his eyes

Work of the Father saying
through the Holy Ghost
Sees the pride of all the lost

Hear me on the way
To heaven
Riding high Lord
Riding high

Talk about the many
Whose paths that
I have crossed

See the wonder
of tomorrow
In the shadow
of my cross

Angels sing in the choir
Of a church upon a hill
Feel the magic and wonder
In their heavenly voices
Lord, I can hear them still

The entire world
Sings His honor
Quietly accepts His will
We are the sad His answer
of the time to Him we kill

Take my fingers place them in the holes
Take by trembling body
Please Lord take my soul

We are drifters in the water
We are marching in the band
We are His children just looking
For the last of the Promised Land

Don't you know me I am sinner
A lost a wayward man
Lamb on His shoulder
Shepard understands
