My Father, My Hero
by David Pekrul
copyright 03-14-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I thought I was past it and could live without crying,
But at times I remember and break down in tears.
My father was special, for he was my hero,
And now he’s in Heaven and free from all fears.

So hard when I wronged him, but tender most times,
He raised all four children and never complained.
He worked with his hands and did not push a pencil,
But we were all cared for and always sustained.

I hope I’m remembered this way by my children,
For Dad was my hero, like him I would be,
I would love to be thought by my kids as a hero,
But at least be remembered with love and esteem.

I definitly think this is much better with the way you fixed it. Sorry it's taken so long. Sometimes the mail gets lost in my inbox.

I don't know what I'll do when my daddy goes away. This was touching, because my father is the most important man who could ever, EVER be in my life. He helped save me from a drug addiction, and always let me know I was loved. I've never doubted for a second that I was special to him.

Father's are the most important gift a kid could ever have. Thank you for sharing this with us.

But on the side of flow and rythm, the second verse threw me a little...for some reason the rhyming just seemed off, and I don't know why. Maybe I'm just too hyper and stumbled on it because my head is going faster than my mind (go caffeinne!)

I'll come back and read it later before I give points. I just want to make sure I give the right amount.

I believe that in your works, I have found that you write from the heart. Having said that, there is no way that you could act that much differently than you write. I will remember you with fond memories of your work, how could they ever forget, Anthony ( Your Dad is smiling now!)
