A Doggie Calling
by Emily Garwood (Age: 21)
copyright 03-16-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I am but a little puppy,
Making my way into the big big world,
Sometimes I scratch,
But I liked to be scratched more.

I am but a puppy all alone,
Somethings gone wrong,
They left me all alone,
In a big big world, when i'm so small.

Leaning out the box,
Me and my floppy ears listen,
And me and my nose smell,
But I cannot find you.

I wanna go home,
I want a scratch and a rub,
Don't leave me here,
You have to teach me, hold me safe.

You hurt me,
But i'm a big dog now,
A street dog,
And a survivor from you.

This is really sad. Puppies are like small children, so innocent and fragile, who need love and protection.

I especially liked the lines:
"Leaning out the box,
Me and my floppy ears listen,
And me and my nose smell,
But I cannot find you."

Dogs like children grow up and live what they learned at home. Unfortunatly we don't seem to learn that what we did not like as children, our children won't either! Parents make the same mistakes that were made when they grew up! Lets break the cycle and just love them unconditionally. This is a great write. Thanks, Anthony
