Let me tell you a story
about a little guy.
That thought he couldn't win
and decided not to try.
He lost all of his money
in one single day.
He had no home to go to
he had no place to stay.
So he laid down on a park bench
and put his head down in his hand.
Then he quietly chuckled
at a passing by old man.
The old man heard him
and he let out a little sigh.
This is what he said
as he walked on by.
He said,"Winners never quit
and quitters never win.
Listen to me now son,
I will say that once again.
Winners never quit
and quitters never win.
The next time you give up hope,
you will remember this then!"
Well the boy got up off the bench
and walked on down the walk.
Then he sat down by God
to have a little talk.
The boy asked God this question
in a single word said,"Why?'
God answered his question
in a single word, "Try!"
You see winners never quit
and quitters never win.
Listen to me now,
I will say that once again.
Winners never quit
and quitters never win.
The next time you give up hope,
You will remember this then!

I really like this, it is a very real message and I would just like to add, it is not about finishing the race that counts, it is how you got there. Enjoy the journey, just because you know how the story ends doesn't mean you don't have to read the story. Great write, good job, thank you
My 7yr old came home the other day and said, "Benjamin Franklin never gave up. He said, 'I didn't quit trying to make the light bulb because I got it wrong so many times... I just learned 978 ways NOT to make one.'" Well, I for one am glad he did NOT give up. :-)
My son also repeats the following phrase to himself when he's frustrated... "If you're stuck, don't give up! Try something new." He then shakes it off and tries again. A good mind set, if you ask me.
You know what successful people and excuses have in common? - Nothing! Successful people never make excuses and people who make excuses are never successful. My boss says that all the time, along with the phrase repeated in your poem... winners never quit and quitters never win.
good poem; something we all need to remember. If we quit in life before we ever get started, we are guaranteed to lose. Like David said: Baby steps. You just take each day as it comes.
If we don't start, we can never finish. When my son first wanted to go to university a few years ago, he didn't know how he could afford it. It seemed overwhelming. I remember telling him, "baby steps, just take baby steps". He is now finishing this April with his degree and prospect of a great job.
Thanks for the encouraging poem. I hope lots of readers take notice.
Reading that made me realise that counts for everythign not just races or life or things like that...but everything even homework there is no winner with it but aslong as you don't quit you win something in your mind which is achievement, or along those lines...nice poem made me think keep it up
