Smile
by Katie M.
copyright 03-27-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Through the bleak days
And the clear, hopeful ones
I try to keep a smile on my face.
A smile can help brighten the darkest of moods.
Even if it is just a little one.
But when you scowl and keep to yourself
You cast others down as well.
No cheer can some from a frown.
Smile through the rain
and the shine.
And keep your head held high.
Be an inspiration to others.
Be what everyone wants from you,
And what they don't expect.
Exceed those expectations
Set ahead of you.
And do well during the not-so-joyous times.
But be your own person.
Like what you enjoy.
Dislike what you loathe.
Never conform yourself
To fit into a stereotype.
But still, try to keep a smile
Played across those lips.
And find the good in the bad.
A smile gives hope.
A smile gives love.
A smile gives joy.
So
Just smile,
Even if it is a little forced.

~~~Eh...This is a poem I wrote during a very hard time in my life. My principle pulled be aside and told me he admired how I was always so upbeat, even during the difficult times, yet still while being my own person and not caring what others thought of me. It was touching, I'll admit. I try to always look on the bright side of things. Try to.
At first i noticed this poem because it had the same title of mine,but it has a diffrent mood,I'm told that i'm sorta upbeat but my friends help. I think that no matter what time you go through friends make it better. so keep writing and if you need someone to talk to you can always talk to someone at pnp!
I wanna be your friend! You can write to me and thats like talking! Your poem is a very nice one and a smile is always a good thing. The bright side is the easy side to look at, but remember that there is another side. Good write, Anthony
Really? If someone could point them out... I've been on a bit of a typo spree lately. -__-;
And I go to a prep school, if I ever just floated around without my "mask", I'd be attacked by rumors and the like. *sigh* And I don't have any friends to talk to.
A smile can be contagious; when others are feeling down, your smile may just be the thing to bring them back up. But don't wear your smile as a mask when you are hurting inside, instead find someone to talk to. Sharing your problems and feelings with someone close, is the best way to put the smile back on your face.
This piece has a few spelling errors, if they were fixed, it would be terrific.
