The Weekend
by David Pekrul
copyright 04-05-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Another week of work is done,
And I am, oh, so tired,
I really need to rest my weary bones.
I leave the job at half past five,
I can't wait for the weekend,
But there's more work to do when I get home.

There's lawns to cut and trash to dump,
There's painting and there's fixing,
There's bills to pay and shopping at some store.
And when I think that all is done,
And I can finally rest,
I'm sure that I will find there's plenty more.

Now I can't wait 'til Monday morn,
When I go back to work,
To start the day with coffee with my friends,
Then work until it seems as if
The week goes on forever,
And once again I'm waiting 'til it ends.

oh my goodness...the weekly grind. Do I know what this is like. By Friday, I can't even make myself wake up. And when Monday comes around, I can't believe I've got to start it again. Yet I dread long weekends and weeks off, because then I get a reduced check, and I can't afford that with all my bills. And to think....only 36 years to retirement....

I really like the way you changed this, and made it into more verses. Definitly makes it flow and feel much better!

Oh, it took me a long time to realize that perhaps there really is no difference between how I approach my week at work and how I face the problems during my leisure time at home. My attitude follows me wherever I go.

I can really appreciate the irony of this one. This is the epitaph of the working class man.
