Another Day
by Doreen Reynolds
copyright 04-17-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I have lived a long,long time
Seen many things
Its hard to put a life in rhyme
It hasn't all been bling
I've lived and loved, mourned and cried
Been happy but not for long
Had lots of friends most of whom have died
A life is like a song
Each verse carries life on its way
Dumped on the doorstep of another day.

I have travelled a long, long way
It surprises me
Lived through events that shook the day
Things we did not want to see.
I've met great men, learned many things
Been scourged by sorrows dart
I find man has not changed in time
Of life we are a part
On whom can we call, what can we say
Standing on the doorstep of another day.

I see the end of the road in sight
Have not reached it yet
I see the candle that lights the night
Spreading out like a holy ray
God forgive me my many errors
Sins for which you died
Keep me from the darkest terrors
Halp me now to say
When the dawn comes, "Give me Strength"
Dying on the doorstep of another day.

Thank you Doreen, you have put into words how I, and probably most oldies feel.
The times when you hear of yet another of your contemporaries departing this place.
One of the hardest things to adjust to is the older I get the more invisable I appear to become to people.
Well written, keep them coming,
Brian.
