I'm not disappointed,
I know everything ends,
My heart is not even dented,
But now I think of how every girl wants a boyfriend,

I'm getting tired of storybooks,
They're constantly brainwashing little girls,
That love happens because of looks,
That's what they look for knights in armor and ball gowns that are impearled,

Girls still think of make believe even at seventeen,
But I think I'm an independent woman who doesn't need a man to put a smile on my face,
I can be treated as a queen,
without flowers ,candy ,or fake embraces

Love isn't the only thing in life
marriage isn't needed to show love
But a hole that falls to further strife
and that fake I love you is the first shove

Some may have it good and that's fine for them,
But I'm just here to point out that you shouldn't just take a leap,
Have a baby at sixteen and you yourself will be condemned,
As you drop out of school and abandon your life to the tears you now weep,

All I'm saying is that being alive is more important than hooking up with the first guy you meet,
All because some star did in Vegas,
But they did what you don't realize they go successful before they heard the pitter patter of little feet,
So don't be brainless,

Love isn't what you think it is all juniors have is lust,
young love is just like a phase
Love isn't a must,
That's all I'm tryin to say.

this is a good poem. i'm glad that a lot of people know the thruth and sad that a lot of people don't. the sadest thing about the thruth is that a lot of people don't relize it untill they repeat the same thing over and over, and the thruth is smacking them in the face at the same time. love is blide but there is a way to see through it. you just have to know what your looking at. and making the mistake is the olny way to truely understand the lesson.

The true resemblence of the perspective our daughter, sisters and ourselves have today.
Love is what you make it, it isnt about storybook romances straught from the pages of fairytales, true and fulfilling love does exist but through blood, sweat and tears as well as love, passion and all the easier things.

Many girls enter into marriage thinking of the fairy-tale ending "and they lived happily, ever after". Then they are disappointed when it isn't like that. Both love and marriage are things that have to be worked at; they do not always come easily, but when they do come, they can be wonderful. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, but don't discount love as something that is not needed. We all need love, and there is someone out there to love you.
You are bold to speak what you feel, and you do it well.

This is the truest thing I've read tonight. It is too bad that children do not have the respect for themselves and feel that they must do things to get attention.I heard a 13 year old girl say," You have to have sex if you want boys to like you." What they don't know is what the boys really think about girls that have sex just to be popular. The girls that are easy may get the attention now, but they won't be the ones the boys take home to meet their moms. You pay a price for all you do, sometimes the bill just comes later! Good poem and very good of you to understand what is really the truth. Stay true to yourself, Anthony
