Night after night I lie awake.
Wondering what I had done,
To make you change to something I hate.
Someone I can’t stand to be around.
Spent every waking minute,
Trying to please you.
And make everything just right.
You made Promises of forever.
Promises I believed.
I trusted you with everything.
Even the most sacred,
My heart, my hopes, my dreams.
How can I ever trust someone again?
After being trampled on,
And told I was unlovable and worthless.
You have done something to me.
You have forced me to hide my heart.
Why did I allow this to happen?
What made me so eager to trust every lie you told?
The answer is simple…
I thought you were the one.
Now the healing begins,
As I look for someone true.
With a new outlook on life,
I am no longer fooled, by fools just like you.
Someone out there loves me.
Someone thinks I’m great.
All I have to do is find them,
And give them what you didn’t deserve.
But I have to thank you.
I would have never come this far,
Without the lessons I have learned.
From loving someone like you.
