Caged birds and calm rain.
by Tori Lang
copyright 04-19-2005

Age Rating: 16 to 127

Every time my words were spoken in depth
fear packed your bags
and distance danced in your eyes.
When this made me enraged
you never stopped time once
to try and understand
my perspective of view.
My meaningful thoughts were wasted on you
and to think I allowed my heart and dreams
to become like caged birds
for the plastic love you loved me with
and the hollow lies you told
I would scream at the sky for hours
the words you left unheard
leaving my tongue dry
like a leaf blending in upon the autumn ground
a meaningless past time
But I only have the fresh face of youth
Am I not mean't to be brave
and abandon this worthless sense of loneliness?.
To severe the ties that mended me to your side.
I have scattered the seeds of old love to the wind
My hands are now bare, yet hopeful
And the waves of time have washed away
the vacant promises you scratched in the sand.
In coloured jars I have bottled memories
that could create an ocean
In need of emptying... one day
when my soul, heart and smile are no longer crooked
I will then give my heart again
to a man who can write of his love for me in stone.
But until that day and while I wait
I fit comfortably amongst the seams
between daylight and dusk
in strong winds and calm rain
patiently.
