In Rememberance of a Rainbow.
by Tori Lang
copyright 05-14-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I sit in stillness
with my attention focused
on my breath.
The contents of my mind
are in rememberance.
I am able to respond by shedding tears
though not all symbolize my sadness,my loss
For I have accepted her leaving
and after many days, have partially filled
the missing piece within my heart.
I have learned again
how to smile
and laugh out loud
the war is over
the army has left and the weapons are down.
a certain peace remains.
The one in whom gave me life
is now one of gods angels
she now wears wings and no longer the pain
that used to come in the darkness and steal her sleep
she is now at peace.
And I am here
holding my heart and head high
I have her hands and that makes me smile.
In my rememberance of a Rainbow
is to not only think of her in her motionless peace
but also her beautiful being.

We've all lost people that mean a great deal to us and sometimes it's hard to put those feelings in words, but you've done a great job. This poem has a melodic feel to it and is perfect. Congrats on a great job!

Poignant is a good word for this. It is very sad, but not overtly sentimental. There is a real beauty in this that resonates with acceptance and grace. Well done!
