The effect that special someone has on a person -
What a great morning this is turning out to be...
The sun slowly rises over the horizon
and it's rays of sunshine creep across
to caress the land, as the warmth
spreads and ignites everyone's day,
sparking life into the singing birds
opening the eyes of those who were sleeping,
- so too has your love done to me
What a great day this is turning out to be...
Look how the sun encourages buds to open
convincing their tightly wrapped leaves
to loosen and expose the beauty within
as it mysteriously provides nourishment
and energy through photosynthesis
encouraging plants to reach toward the sun
- so too has your love done to me
What a new life this is turning out to be...
Notice how a plant will seek the sun
and lean faithfully in it's direction,
reaching for even just a bit more
Notice how some flowers clam up
unable to be as beautiful at night
in the absence of the warmth from the sun
- so too has your love done to me

The sentiments that you feel towards your loved one are expressed in such a lovely and original way....You do not use the high flown words of infatuation, but give voice to all the little things that you now notice and appreciate because you have this warm and beautiful love in your life. You write about all the little details of the natural and mundane and make them as beautiful as the love you share with another...Very lovely and written with graceful simplicty.
David, looking rose colored glasses... eh? Even after someone goes blind... they never forget what they've seen. So too with someone in love, you never look at things the same again.
Anthony, after reviewing your suggestions... I just had to take them. Your wisdom and insight are invaluable and I do appreciate them so much that I gave you credit immediately after the poem for those subtle changes. And yes, God is the master... after all, he's a God of love! ;-)
What a beautiful analogy. When we are in love we see life through new eyes; everything is brighter and more colourful; food tastes better; the air smells cleaner; the world is a beautiful place.
You suprise me sometimes, but it is always a nice suprise. Watching nature wake with the rays of the sun is a beautiful sight. I hope that someday all the people in the citys get to experence sunrise in the forest or at a lake. Though poets write about it, words don't do God justice. The lord is the master and daybreak his masterpiece. Beautiful poem! Thanks, Anthony
