Is she still there...in the same intersection?
by Duangchai Sut-un (Age: 32)
copyright 05-07-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Live along the road.
One lonely little girl has found herself between the intersection.
The road was empty.
The sign was so clear about what's on the left,
what's on the right..
and what's waiting straight ahead.

Look to the left...the sign showed easy road
...on the way to the coast...like a great vacation house...
with quiet, peaceful, safety under the perfect wings...forever.

Look to the right...
she saw a country road that's rough...
long long long...farther to go...
When will she get there?
...nobody knows...
it might take forever, but never able to reach the destination.

Look straight ahead
...what's waiting?
...she said it was her own home that she lived alone for all her life.

Do you know which way will she go?
many years pass by...every single day...
I saw the same girl...who's afraid of making a decision
still there...at the same intersection.

Good topic for a poem and good fist of few attempts. Keep it up!

Good poem! I like this one, and I'm sure others will too since it's so easy to relate to. Another good write!

I have at times been paralyzed with indecision and was very afraid of being stuck at an intersection for life. Your poem is almost allegorical in concept or a parable, if you like. Very sophisticated in its simplicity. You really do have a gift for seeing into the heart of something and expressing what you see. I look forward to more poetry from you...thank you.

This is a great poem. We're all lost at some point in our lives and the road that we should take is always hidden. I can't wait to read more!
