Spring Break
by James Shammas (Age: 44)
copyright 04-23-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Thoughts bubble up
Always the day after
Martinis and bikinis
And dancing on the sands.

Their pearly skins harden,
Clinging on a string:
Accolades you've spit and shined--
The ones you gave the girl

Last night--the pretty one--
The one you couldn't find:
The gnarled, fleeting troll
Who tip-toes out the door

Until you puke at last

And they settle back
Among the muddy dunes,
Soaked and pressed
Under calloused feet.

Then the hangover fades,
And over darkened shades,
You simply see the gulls
Darting over the spinning seas.

Jelly Fish, this reminds me of Jelly Fish! And the pretty beaches.

This is no time to clam up! The poem is written well and brings so many things to mind. Thoughts that run wild with nothing to stop them for even in sleep they creap into your head and make dreams! Thanks, Anthony

I know, I know, everyone will say, "But pearls come from oysters, but this poem just reminded me of claming.

I went claming once; lots of fun, but I could never eat the things.
