I Never Loved You
by David Pekrul
copyright 05-01-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I never said I loved you,
It wasn’t on my mind,
You took it all for granted,
You said I was so kind.

I never meant to hurt you,
I had to tell the truth,
You said that I was lying,
You said you had the proof.

The night we spent together,
You said I was the one,
And now that night is over,
I feel like such a bum.

What made you say you loved me?
That wasn’t in the cards,
'Twas just a night of pleasure,
I think you tried too hard,

To find a man to love you,
You thought that man was me,
I felt so trapped and cornered,
You made me want to flee.

I’m sorry that I hurt you,
That wasn’t on my mind,
I said I didn’t love you,
I know that was unkind.

Please say that you forgive me,
And we can still be friends,
Good friends that once were lovers,
Good friends that made amends.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.
As they say, been there, done that, got the tee shirt.
You voice it so very well.
You brought back memories and faces for me that have been long buried.
Someone I knew, when asked did he love her, came up with this.
"Of course I do my darling, but do ask me again in the morning".
Brian.

How on earth do you go from being a lover to being a friend? Guess you answered that question yourself. I like this poem, it is a lot like " Just Friends. " This happens more than you might think! Thanks, Anthony

Great job on this poem. I love the rhyme sceme. This is one of those situations that we all wish we didn't have to deal with.

Tough situation to be in. We have all probably been there, some more than not. A universal theme
