How does a business expect to survive
When labour is sent out the door?
They keep all the offices full at the top,
But no one is working the floor.
They think that the money is made from up there,
And workers are here for the ride.
Now, when will they realize that we earn the dough?
They need us if they're to survive.
They lay off the workers and prices go up,
They think that they'll now make a profit,
But they do not realize if we're out of work,
There's no one to buy, so why stock it.
We're now unemployed and we're looking for jobs,
But they want to show us the door,
Now money is tight and we watch what we spend,
So who's gonna buy at their store?

It astounds me how true this seems. People lay off those who do the actual labor, as they think the money is with the people upstairs. Who does the work to make the food, to stock the shelves, to collect the money, to keep things clean? Computers are replacing workers, which helps make the people upstairs earn the profit which causes more layoffs, etc etc. Excellent work, David!
The jobs that the lower paid and less trained employees do make the statement, "You get what you pay for" so much stronger. Now adays if the computer goes down the world stops!! Think about that! Anthony
When jobs are thin, the highring price is made lower. According my history teacher, there are people working the floors at about a dollar less to even half as much as you were.
