Missiles in the afternoon

Written in the days of the cold war



An I.C.B.M missile is such a pretty site.
Climbing through the atmosphere with it's
tail alight.

Soaring through the stratosphere, destination known.
Heading for a city,
some people know as home.

Just ordinary people, just like you or me.
Maybe not speaking the same language,
but in this we all agree.

Let the button pushers, and the politicians too.
Find themselves an island.
And each other SCREW.

I saw this and HAD to read it again. I couldn't help but nod in agreement...so much of the humor has been taken out of it with the past few years, especially with what Bush just did by judging Russia so harshly, when we HAVE to be careful with them. As if he hasn't messed us up enough with the rest of the world, now he's setting up missle programs in the Eurasia area again, and setting us up for another (hopefully just) cold war. God help us if it progresses beyond that.

I still hold to my opinion...all rulers who want to start wars should be stripped naked, thrown into a gladitorial ring, and forced to fight to the death naked. It would be entertaining, they'd be less likely to declare war, and only the people who DESERVE TO would die.

As it was before it still is, an amazing piece.
