"The Yardbirds" flew into "Led Zeppelin,"
and "Aerosmith" was a "Rush."
"The Eagles" rocked Hotel California
and "ZZ Top" plays Tush.
"The Beach Boys" are playing in "Chicago."
"Bread" always gave it's "Blood, Sweat and Tears."
"Air Supply" is out the "Doors."
"The Grateful Dead" have no fears.
"Janis Joplin" and "Yes" "The Who,"
played music while "Cobain" got high.
"Lynard Skynyrd" took a "Jefferson Airplane"
like "Buddy Holly" the flight made them die.
"Pink Floyd" was up against The Wall.
"Wilson Picket" had a "Nitty Gritty Dirt Band."
"Frank Zappa" rocked "Bob Dylan"
and "Eric Clapton" was called slow hand.
"The Almond Brothers" were southern rock,
"The Beatles" came across the pond.
"James Brown" always liked "Gladys Knight."
For "The Village People" I was not fond.
"The Temptations" crooned the crowd.
"Jethro Tull" walked on "Earth, Wind and Fire."
"The Bee Gees" timeless like "Santana"
while "Heart" was every man's desire.
"Queen" said they were The Champions,
"Alice Cooper" took a bite out of life!
"Crosby, Stills and Nash" were loved
and "Billy Joel" has a new wife.
Not many were like "The Mamas and Papas."
"AC DC" ROCKED, like "Kiss."
No one can forget "Van Morrison,"
and "Elvis" will always be missed.
"The Rolling Stones" are very good,
even after a "Three Dog Night."
"Stevie Wonder" and "Otis Redding"
went partying with "Barry White"
So this is the end of my poem,
let's give "Def Leppard" another hand.
When the "Strawberry Alarm Clock" goes off,
I hope you can find your favorite band!
( This will be better for the older people here! They will catch more of the hidden messages)

Awesome... and I loved every word (unlike Jean George that didn't even read it all... since Crosby, Stills, and Nash WAS INCLUDED in your poem! LOL, J/K). And aside from the conglomerate of bands, the awesome collection of music, and the fact that you made it rhyme to boot... what I really liked most was the hidden meanings and references. I about choked on the "let's give "Def Leppard" another hand" part... how many of your readers know the drummer lost his arm? *smile*... You ROCK (pun intended)
Way to go....I have albums(yes, albums) by almost every one of these bands. But man, what about Grand Funk and CCR, Steppenwolf and Bachman, Turner Overdrive and you can't leave out Crosby, Stills and Nash, the Boss and E Street, Abba and Fleetwood Mac and of course how can you possible leave out the Beatles!!!?....Gee Anthony you still have a lot more verses to write....Thanks, you have brought back a lot of great memories...most of which my mother never knew about, thank goodness.
Oh, dude! How did have the time and thought to put so many bands together and have it all rhyme?! You are the Rock-n-Roll rhyme master of all time! I see the words and end-rhymes spilling out of your head, like coins spitting out of a slot-machine while all the rock bands in history jam in one long poetic tribute to The Master!! Your brain is amazing and I have fun experiencing the fruits of your labor. Rock on!
This is great. Must have taken quite a time to put together. I don't think I could have come up with that many groups off the top of my head, let alone make up a poem like this that gives tribute to each and every one.
I like it.
