Cowboy Song

  Cowboy Song

I thought I'd write me
a cowboy song.
That tells a story,
that's kinda long.

Tales of gunfights
at high noon.
Of purdy ladies
in a saloon.

I'd sing it sad,
and kinda slow.
I'd be tellin a story
that ya'll know.

At the end of my song
I'd step aside.
Climb on to my horse
and then I'd ride.

Ride off into the sunset
and on into the night.
Keep traveling on
and get out of sight.

I thought I'd write me,
a cowboy song.
That told a story,
that was kinda long.

The story was long
and when it was through.
What it had told,
seemed to come true.

Because at the end of my song,
I stepped aside.
Climbed onto my horse
and started to ride.

I rode off into the sunset
and on into the night.
Kept traveling on
and got out of sight!

Them there's some purty words you got goin' on there. Got you a horse, and even a sunset... ain't you jest sittin' purty? The only thin' missin' is the age old sayin'... "Ya'll come back now, here?" *grin* (Makes me just wanna hike up my skirt and start square dancin'! LOL)

Your poetry always amazes me. It's so melodic and beautiful. It's awesome that you got into character with the language used; putting the word "ya'll" in there. Congratulations on another great write and job well done!!!
