Sunny Goodbye

A light breeze moves through the air
and carries the sweet scent of the lilies.
The sun kisses the lagoon and makes
it sparkle like shiny diamonds.
It's warm all around
and the joys of spring surround
us in its dewy embrace.
We sit here, you and I,
hands intertwined with each other
and eyes glazed over with thoughts of love.
Your eyes are pieces of the sky
and mine like fresh earth with leaves of green.
I inhale the lilies of the valley growing near to us and smile that we've made it this far.
I kiss you with no regret
and you come back with lightning speed.
It's odd that I'm happy now
all the while knowing that you're leaving.
Please stay and smell the lilies, dance under the stars, and lay with me through the hot nights.
Play with my long hair and tell me the adventures you've been on and help me dream.
But I sink into this reverie
of memories that you and I shared these past months and know that things must change.
Have fun where you go to that molten formed land
and I'll be waiting here, just me, still me, always.

What you have described is a moment of perfect happiness, when all things seem to come together in a harmony of beauty and love....Odd, how often it seems that these moments come just before a time of supreme sadness. Maybe these moments are granted us in an effort to see us throught the oncoming sad times...Anyway this was lovely.
What a beautiful poem that paints a picture of such beauty of the love you hold within your heart.
The way you write your words with such description placed me in the field carpeted with lilies of the valley.
Beautiful, thankyou.
