The lies drip like acid in my memory,
I cringe inside as each one comes alive
Tormenting with burning contempt.
I dwelt in my fool’s paradise unchallenged,
Cloaked in the silk of blind serenity,
Closely guarding my ivory tower door.
I still hear the laughter of your parting
Echoing through the chambers of my heart.
What was once my perfect reality
Lies shattered, shards of glass about my feet.
I stand frozen at the door in naked anguish,
As the lies drip like acid in my memory.

I love images this conjures. It's so dark and undoubtable sad. And remakably well written, I might add. Oh, dear. Now I'm rhyming in the comments. Keep up the good work.
Our tongue can be such a vicious weapon. Proverbs 12:19 says "Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment."
Interpret this as you will, but I think it says that those who lie will get their punishment. Remember that other saying, "What goes around, comes around."
I have written a couple poems about our responsibility when using words. Read them and see what you think. "The Words We Choose", "Words"
