Should Have Been Barren
by Walter Jones (Age: 63)
copyright 05-28-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Sleeping in the willow lost in the rain
Daughter oh dear daughter
how you have brought me pain(refrain)

Silver in my hair
teeth falling out
All you do
is scream and shout

Burden of the father
Past my way
Put me in the ground
escape from you this day

Should you find a dollar
make it stay
As the wind of time
will
all you own
take a way

Body on the mountain
Coffee in the bed
Cannot forgive
the things
He said

Walk the halls of living
Stop among the dead
Read is the color of
The day they wed

Daughter in the valley
Where you lay me down
Walk away
never make a sound

Dry the milk
form of which we speak
Low is the pity of hurt
from your dirty street

Oh Daughter oh dear daughter
do you know him
do you know well
He will keep you
in his living hell

Body on the bed
last of your looks be gone
Your child will be singing
this same song
