(Assorted thoughts on last week. My apologies this is late in coming as I was stranded in Virginia. I'm back now, and all is well.)

A dinosaur in a child's tale once so eloquently stated,
"Let only good happen!" Such advice is underrated.
We can't control what others do or how it affects our lives,
But we CAN control what WE do and for what it is we strive.
Since we can't decide just how or in what way something will begin,
All we can do is make choices to determine just how it will end.
Some blame God for the ills in life and some place it elsewhere,
But have we ever given thought to never placing blame anywhere?
Is there a remote possibility that we can band together as one,
And focus instead on where to go instead of where we are -or- are from?
Can we find the cure to this disease instead of masking only its' pain?
Can we learn from our mistakes instead of repeating them again?
In light of everything that's happened and in view of all we know,
It seems to me there's a choice to make and a path we must choose to follow.
Anger is a natural emotion and one that must be felt,
But to let it fester in our hearts will encourage rage to swell.
One day peace will reign and Paradise will replace all this mess
One day hate will be forgotten, and will be replaced with eternal forgiveness
We'll hold hands and help each other to repair the pain that we wore
We can and WILL rise above the ashes to soar in unity once more.

I always feel like a poem is sucessful if it can elicit a response from the public... and this has. Thank you so much! May the people and the lands heal soon. May we all learn to go on, and learn from both our own, as well as other's mistakes. Their blind prejudice fuels their hatred and deeds. Let's not imitate that. :)
A great poem Mary, yes they have failed to tear the people apart, instead only bringing everyone closer together. They will learn to pay for their mistakes in life like everyone else.....only sooner.
