Stop - Eject - Exchange - Play (It Takes Time)
by Leah Garrison (Age: 20)
copyright 06-03-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Shayla’s world was Helm Lorain
She breathed him in like air
He was the soothing, cooling rain
He was her passionate fire

Shayla’s life was Helm Lorain
He brought her back from death
She was cleansed of all her pain
And found God hadn’t left

Shayla’s world is crumbling
Give her patience, please
Into despair she’s tumbling
Jack, be her heart’s-ease

Shayla’s life begins anew
On a never-trodden track
She’s lost all she ever knew –
Be sweet, carissimus Jack.

Remember, Shayla’s just a girl
Whose perfection’s now a mess
She can be Jack’s shining jewel
Given time, love, and tenderness.

The poet that truly writes, writes feelings expressed by words and not just words on paper. The truly good writer makes the words take life themselves, as your poem does here. Love grows with the right light and light source. Thanks, Anthony

one thing I always admired/loved about good poetry is the poet's ability to describe a specific, unique situation and, in doing so, make it universally understood and appreciated. really good poetry is the kind that makes you think the poet is somehow watching you and reading your mind. :)

Oh, Lord! My first reaction was to wonder who Shayla was. But this poem is so beautifully crafted that it really doesn't matter who Shayla is! You, Leah, are definitely an old soul. It clearly comes through your work. Kudos!
