Darling Daughter
by Brian Dickenson (Age: 73)
copyright 06-05-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I wrote this seven years ago, she is still, and always will be. 'My Little Girl'. Mind you she would probably go ape if she knew I'd put this here.

Happy birthday precious daughter dear.
It just doesn't seem another year.
But as you know, time does fly
and then, as if in the blink of an eye
you’re another year older.
The makeup may take a little longer,
the lines of life be a little stronger.
And it's a fact as we grow older
the years get shorter and the winters colder.
But don't despair, it's not the 'big four 0'
you have another year to go.
So all my love on your special day,
and don't forget what they say.
LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY.

I am 23 years old and I know I will always be my daddys' little girl. I like hearing a fathers perspective. I'm so used to hearing a mothers that I sometimes forget that daddy's love their kids too. I really enjoyed this one.

Brian, when I saw the title, I just had to read your poem. My little girl will soon turn 21, but is growing up and away shortly. She's entering the Air Force in a week and a half.
Good write.
Nancy

The little part may change, but your girl will always be your girl. This was nice and I am sure she was happy. She would not be mad at you for this...if you took off the part about how many years ago you wrote it( that way her age is still a mystery) I have four daughters and they keep me very busy trying to remember all the names of my grandchildren. There are the good and bad in everything, this was good! Anthony

A father's daughter will alway be his 'little girl'. My daughter is 29 years old; makes me feel old, but she's still by baby.
