It's Fathers Day
by Anthony Lane Stahlhut (Age: 48)

  It's Fathers Day

It's fathers day
and I'm away
boy, don't I sure miss you.
The joyous times
fade with clock chymes
My love, still unending and true.

So many miles between us
hard to leave I must
be going on my way.
But you must surely know
through high or low
I will think of you each day.

It's fathers day
and I'm away
boy, don't I sure miss you.
The joyous times
fade with clock chimes
my love still unending and true.

( this was written to my son that was two at the time. I was divorced and he was three states away. The picture is my grandson )

It's hard to be apart from those you love, especially on special occasions. :-(

Your family is fortunate, to have such a caring and passionate father figure. I could only wish I had as much in my life growing up. I envy them... in a good way. Keep up the good work, and not just writing... in being the wonderful person you are!

Very heartfelt. Must be hard to be separated from the one you love. Many years ago I was given an assignment in the high Arctic, hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle. I was only there for 18 days, but missed my anniversary and my daughter's birthday. Those were the longest 18 days in my life. This poem brought back those memories.
