During The Times That I Write
by David Pekrul
copyright 06-09-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

During the times that I write,
I can be anyone,
I can march to my tune,
I can beat my own drum.

I can go anywhere,
I can live on a star,
I can do anything,
I can play the guitar.

During the times that I write,
I can say how I feel,
To complain if I like,
Tell my side, make it real.

I can be my own boss,
I can do as I please,
Can be brutally frank,
And at times I can tease.

During the times that I write,
I can feel like a king,
I can open my heart,
Take a rhyme, make it sing.

Be the master, the slave,
Be the joker, the fool,
The magician, the lover,
I can make my own rules.

During the times that I write.

David you score again. What a wonderful way to see writing, and so true.
An artist does it on canvas, we do it with words. I'm biased toward writers. People see so much more with their minds than they do with their eyes.
Keep them coming, Brian

You know, this reminds me of a Savage Garden song.

"On the telephone line I am any height
I am any age,
I wanna be,
I can be super model,
A Norman Taylor
And you wouldn't know the difference
Would you?"

I've never really thought of writing like this, but now that you mention it, it does seem oh-so-true. Wonderful work, David, though I would expect nothing less from you :)
