Do not Shake the Sandman
by Debra Rose (Age: 21)
copyright 06-21-2005

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Do not shake the Sandman
Do not wake me from this sleep
Of heady heavy slumber
In which I rest so deep.

Do not interrupt this process
of recovering energy
Do not shake the sandman
Do not wake me from this sleep.

Do not shake the Sandman
Do not take his gift from me
Of dreamless soothing slumber
In which I rest so deep.

Do not interrupt this process
of dream filled reverie
Do not shake the sandman
Do not wake me from this sleep.

Authors Note: Odd little poem I wrote because after not sleeping for more than two hours a night for year, and finally being able to sleep, I never want to wake up again! Okay...back to bed for me! :)

Very well-crafted. You have done marvelous justice to an amusing little anecdote.
Not sleeping is not funny, I usually don't have problems sleeping, and on those nights I do,
I'm grateful. I'm a heavy sleeper.

You did a good job with few words and a simple little poem.

Bravo, my little Artista,

~RICH

I wish i could find that place of slumber. More often than not i survive on 4 to 5 hours sleep a day. Just the life of a shiftworker i suppose. Your poem made me envious of such a place. Thank you.
Jonathon.

I love this. I wish i could go to bed and never wake up again, not that I want to die. I just want to sleep forever and ever. This is wonderfully written.
Keep up the good work.
SamiJo
