To believe
by Brian Dickenson (Age: 73)
copyright 06-11-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

To be able to believe
Would be such a boon.
To be able to sleep
And not wake too soon.

To not toss and turn
And sweat through the night,
Enduring bad dreams
That wake me in fright.

Just for once to forget
How it has been,
To believe that everything
Is as it seems.

For a mind full of doubt,
Is there no cure?
Or do we endure it
Until, we’re no more?

As you know, Brian, I do believe, but I also have many questions. I sleep well, but the time between wake and sleep is when my mind wanders and I ask my questions. I don't just ask them of myself, but I ask them of God. I find rest in that, and even though I still don't have all the answers, I know who does, and I put my faith in Him.

I love this scripture: "It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loves ones." Psalm 127:2

This is another great poem to make one ponder life, both the known and the unknown.

Personally - of course it's always personal - I do not believe. I much prefer to know.
For a mind full of doubts, there are questions. Since there are questions, there are answers. Thus, no more doubts.
And when a dream wakes you in fright, it is exactly because you need to awake... to something that you must take a look at.
Anyway, this is a dream interpreter talking.
Sweet dreams !

Pierre

Belief is a choice! You can if you want! You get to decide for yourself. It doesn't matter what you have been taught or where you have been, if you don't believe, then it's not real to you! Sometimes things happen that make us think, "What's it all for?" I think thats what life is....finding out why you are here! Believe in yourself and good luck, Anthony

Oh, I guess a basic uncertainty and doubt underlies all of our philosophical musings, from time immemorial. Part of the "human condition," I guess.
