It's Bloomsday Today!
by James Shammas (Age: 44)
copyright 06-16-2005

Age Rating: 4 to 127

Tooraloom, tooraloom, tooraloom--
It's Bloomsday in June!

Take off your skin and show us your bones--
So pearly white-- clack them on stones!

Outside, there's such a great crash--
It's Captain Flyaway Pants!

He wears the big, red clown nose--
How he dances high on one toe!

And flying bedfellows, bulging at seams--
Billowing, blowing, bending knees!

Flapping lapped fat, you're a fish out of water--
Get off the sofa, and learn how to polka!

Very colorful. Written in beautiful form-reminded me of ee Cummings. Is this like an Irish Mardis Gras?

Thank You for the read,

reed

P.S. Please comment on "Syrupy Slush" when you can.

Ah! Tis a good write to be sure to be sure.

I love Dublin, been there many times, the old Dublin that was. Before they 'modernised it'.
When himself used to stand on his column and look over the city. And the river looking like Guinness.
Grand days.
Thanks Jim for the memories.
Brian.

You must be a true fan of James Joyce to know about this "holiday". I will definitely have to research the rest of your references to find out their meanings....Did you actually go to Dublin for the celebration?

Check out my article, entitled "Bloomsday" in my "Stories" section and you'll find out what Bloomsday is about!

This is obviously a local festival that I know nothing about, but it is still an enjoyable read.
