Korean Lesson #2
by Jane L. (Age: 14)
copyright 06-17-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Korea is a little different than America. In America you have to have a car to go somewhere, but in Korea there is a subway connecting all over South Korea and same with the buses.
Kids in Korea start school 6 months later. And at school they have outdoor shoes and indoor shoes. They have a book for every subject and there is a for every class and vice too. Everyone at school has a turn to clean the classroom and they're are selected people from the class to serve lunch to the class.(The lunch comes to the classroom) Since first grades are too young the class president's mother comes in and helps with the cleaning and lunch. Starting from third grade they do it on their own. In Korea they don't teach math a lot at school. Thats because everyone goes to cram school to learn math to be more smarter than anybody else. There are lots of kinds of cram schools. Art, piano, language arts, sports, etc,.
In Korea pointing is considered very rude. So they just explain how the person or thing looks like. And most senior citizens think that if you shake your legs demons might come after you. If you sigh hope will go away. And greeting your parents and grand by bowing down shows lots of respect. They think like this because about 100 years ago in Chosen Dynasty everyone believed in Configurist (I don't know how to spell it). Japan and China are almost the same.

I can't think of anything eles to write...
If anybody has any suggestions please tell me.

pointing is considered rude in America, 2, heh.
and I thought bowing was only used for royals.

The thing with the demons is very...urm...unusual.
These entries are cool, write more please.
It's very kind of you to do this, and for providing people with the chance to learn all this.
I appreciate it.
