Like a Promise
by Jane L. (Age: 14)
copyright 06-18-2005

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I fell under a spell,
Just so that we can meet.

Gather both hands together,
Because it brings a smile.

Even though,
I acted as if we didn't love,
We suddenly fell in love.

I want to hold you tight...
I couldn't say the words,
That I wanted to say.

Like a promise,
We fell in love.

When the warmth of your hand,
Left my hand cold,
I wanted to cry.

I want to hold you tight...
Holding your hand,
Tight to my chest.
Let me be with you.
Let me be with you...

Nice theme. Exact contrast to half my works and the usual poem about not wanting to let go, so it was refreshing to see a familiar theme altered and made interesting again. You do need to capitalize the start of each line, but you're familiar with that ramble. The poem is on the short side though, so I didn't get into it as much as when the story being told is a little longer and more deceptive. You do state the facts and convey your message easily, so I will give you that. Poems that hide the meaning and never really tell you who or what the authors is rambling about have started to bother me... Anyway! Good work, Jane! Keep it coming!

Young love seems so strong. The feelings here feel real and I enjoyed reading your thoughts. Good luck, Anthony
