Sleepless Night's Walk

  Sleepless Night's Walk

I was all alone and was feeling very blue,
there just seemed to be nothing that I could do.
So I decided that, I would take a walk.
Try to find someone and maybe stop and talk.

There's only going to be a few more hours of the night,
and looking up the road I saw no one in sight.
Most people were home and tucked into their bed,
exploring many fantasies somewhere inside their head.

I just kept on looking with hopes that I might see,
someone that I could persuade to stop and talk with me.
I looked over at the policeman, but he had to work,
trying to arrest a drunk that was being a total jerk.

The milkman in his truck, was out making his run,
the paperboy, looking tired was happy to be done.
Then I saw the dog catcher had gotten him a few.
They were all so busy, I still had nothing to do.

I saw the street sweeper trying to clean the road
a wrecker driver with a car that he had just towed.
It was getting early and lights were coming on.
Then I started home, because it was almost dawn.

When I got back to the house I sat down to write,
about all the interesting things I had seen that night.
I remembered being bored with nothing that I could do,
Samantha, I got some paper and wrote this poem for you.

I'll enter it in the contest and hope that I will win.
This time there are others, I'm not the only one again.
If I win the contest, I will scream and shout,
I won a contest, with a poem, about a walkabout!

I gave such a laugh when I saw my name in here! Anyway, lol! Beautiful imagery used, and sounds like my street, except we don't have a paperboy. We have the papermen that come at like 5 in the morning, and toss the papers onto the step. It's the lazy version of the paper boy. I'm sorry you didn't win, but it was a close call :) Thank you for entering, though! And I hope there will be more calming and eventful walkabouts in your future, because they rock ^-^

Love, love, love the picture.
But anyway, your flow was fantastic.
the words sat really well together.
Keep up the awesome work!

This is, indeed like a care-free andante. Nice poem.

Sometimes poems can seem short, choppy, and forced. Sometimes they seem like they're offspring of some forced chore. But THIS... this seems like it's a perfect flowing of thought and emotion... one of those times when words flow out on their own without much working over. :-) It's this kind of work that I love the best. Five flower points to you!
